The Story of Big Al The Basset Hound and My Family
Once upon a time in the heart of the Southern United States, a basset hound with droopy ears and soulful eyes entered our lives, forever changing them for the better. Big Al, named for his grand stature and even grander heart, quickly became more than just a pet; he became a cherished family member and a source of endless joy and laughter.
Our journey with Big Al unfolded on a sunny afternoon, marking the day we were to meet a reputable AKC Breeder in our area where we eagerly anticipated introduction to the basset hound puppy we had carefully chosen from an extensive online gallery of puppies. After thorough research, which included sifting through photographs, scrutinizing the details of each contender, and holding numerous conversations with the breeder, we felt confident in our choice. Yet, nothing could have prepared us for the moment we laid eyes on him; it was an immediate and profound love at first sight.
The drive back home was memorable, with Big Al nestled serenely in the gentle cradle of his new mom's hands, dozing off to the rhythm of the music playing in the background, and the hum of the road beneath us. It’s a tender memory that brings warmth to our hearts, especially when we look at him now, a robust companion advanced in years at this writing (9 ½ years old) weighing in at over 80 lbs. That time still remains as a cherished memory of the small bundle of joy that grew into a significant part of our lives, embodying the love and laughter that he brings into our home each day.
Big Al's days were filled with adventures, from lazy afternoons sunbathing in the yard to exciting walks in the park, where his gentle nature and friendly demeanor made him friends with everyone he met. It wasn't long before we started sharing stories of Big Al's antics on social media, wanting to spread the warmth and happiness he brought into our lives.
To our surprise and delight, Big Al quickly gained a following. People from around the area and eventually beyond were drawn to his charming personality and the simple, joyful moments he shared. As his popularity grew, we saw an opportunity to use Big Al's platform for a greater purpose.
Our Mission
Inspired by the love and companionship Big Al has brought into our lives, our mission evolved into promoting responsible pet ownership and supporting animal and environmental causes. We believe that every animal deserves a loving home and the chance to bring joy to a family just as Big Al has done for us.
Through "Big Al The Basset Hound," we aim to create a community that values and actively participates in the wellbeing of animals and their environments. Our efforts include partnering with local and global charities, initiating fundraising events, and educating the public on the importance of animal care and environmental stewardship.
